Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a way for people to buy their fresh groceries directly from a local farmer in their area. When you purchase a CSA "share" for the growing season, you become a CSA Member. Members receive a weekly local produce bag or box direct from the farmer with a variety of items that are in-season for a specified number of weeks. CSA Members further benefit from opportunities such as farm tours, community work days, and other fun events.
Some CSAs are pay-as-you-go but most are run by an advance, one-time payment. The advance purchase supports the farmer with earlier income to produce farm goods for the season without financial strain. Around the world, CSAs have a long history of supporting small scale farmers!
Want to support the CSA effort but don't want the weekly share of produce? We welcome you to make a one-time donation to the farm, which will support our on-going farm costs or sponsor another person's share. Please see the donation information and link further below and thank you for your generosity! (Donations are not tax deductible since we are not a non-profit organization.)
At Kinfolk Gardens, our Fall CSA is a nine week season, running from October to December. CSA members sign-up in advance of the season and make a one-time payment at the time of sign-up. Then, during each week of the Fall CSA season, members receive a weekly bag of fresh vegetables, herbs, and a newsletter with storage tips and recipe ideas,

Logistics
Your produce share will available for pick up every Wednesday, 4-6pm at either pick-up location:
If a Member cannot pick up their share, the Member must arrange for a Substitute to pick it up and the Member will need to explain the pick up site location and procedures to the Substitute. Any shares not retrieved in a timely fashion will be donated to a local food pantry. We know folks take vacation or things just come up, so staying in communication with us will ensure that no produce is wasted!

Any amount is appreciated. Read more details about donations below and thank you!
In 2024, donations will be used to:
1. Help us afford key start-up farm infrastructure or supplies to aid that aid in our production, harvesting, and storage, and
2. Help other individuals with less financial means access our fresh produce or 2. reduce or completely subsidize the cost of someone else's one-time CSA Share membership fee, but only if you can identify the person you would like to sponsor.
Because we are in our first year, we were unable to offer a general CSA Membership sponsorship, because it would take more intentional effort and time for us to identify the recipients and guarantee their cost could be covered by a sponsor should they sign up on their own. That being said, you are welcome to identify folks for us and we will happily supply them with a weekly box if you can help them with the cost! Read about our plans for improving access to our CSA produce in 2025 further down.
If you are trying to sponsor a specific person's membership fee, thank you for being so generous! Please ensure this person is committed to receiving a weekly box of produce and that you or they are able to pick up the weekly box at a designated pick up location. When you make a payment, please instruct them to sign-up on the website for either the small or full share, depending on your donation value. We will take care of the rest!
2025 Plans for "Share a Share": In 2025 we hope to offer a formal CSA Member Sponsorship initiative: Share a Share. We will do the work to identify individuals who would receive a low/no-cost Membership Share or entities that would receive bulk produce and all you have to do is make a donation. We hope you will consider supporting this effort next year!
